    Wellbeing & creativity

Wild Blossom is a Forest School and Nature Based Learning setting located within an ancient, old growth private woodland just outside of Cardiff.

We understand that a connection to nature is integral to our well-being as humans. That's why we are on a mission to create a safe, nurturing space for people of all ages to rekindle and deepen their relationship with the natural world, with themselves and their communities.

From Family sessions to birthday parties, toddler groups to afterschool clubs we have something for everyone.

What are our customers saying?

Thanks so much for the intro session yesterday - your piece of woodland is beautiful and you’ve clearly put so much thought into making it a wonderful space. The session really captured Ted’s imagination too - he was using his toy knife and wooden blocks to chop firewood (the exact same way he’d seen Tom use his axe) and make a fire last night. He’s always been a real outdoors baby and I’m so pleased to find somewhere to feed that.

Thanks so much for today. Ayla’s been buzzing about it & we will definitely be booking on. Thanks so much for creating such a wonderful opportunity for home Ed kids. I hope you grow & it flourishes.

We had the best time at @wild_blossom_forestschool!! Can't wait to be back!
If you're local to Cardiff and Caerphilly then have a look at what goes on in their enchanted woodland space! I promise, it's absolutely magical."

I brought my two littles to our first home ed session yesterday and we had such a great time! My 2yo thoroughly enjoyed and we can't wait to come back. She took part in lots of activities she's not done before. Was a lovely atmosphere, very welcoming Thanks very much!

What does Education mean to us?

  • We want to be clear on what education means to us here at Wild Blossom, so

that you can be sure we are the right place for you and your child/children.

It has been noted that there are in fact two latin roots of the English word for "education": educare and educere.

Educare means "to train" or "to mold" which we have absolutely no interest in doing.

However Educere means "to draw out that which is within," like the germination of a seed, and this is the very soul of our educational vision. We want to create a nurturing space where creativity, curiosity, freedom, acceptance, awareness, knowledge and inspiration can grow, not only in our children, but also within ourselves. After all, children learn from what we are and this is why it is our mission at Wild Blossom to nurture in ourselves what we want for our children, which is in turn what we want for our future. We endeavour to make it our duty to run our "school" with kindness at its foundation, with unconditional respect and love for every living thing, however big, small or complicated, and to prioritise deep listening over speaking.

What does Nature connection mean to us?

  • David Attenborough said: "No one will protect what they don"t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.” The truth is that for many of us, children especially, meaningful experiences with nature are decreasing at an alarming rate. We have taken our lives inside, predominantly behind four walls, and our connection to the natural world as a result has never been so distant.

We know it"s going to take time but we want to be part of changing this. We want our woodland to be a space for people of all ages to have positive, meaningful experiences in nature in the hope that our future will move away from destruction and towards preservation.

We also know that we are nature. Therefore, we believe, a reconnection to nature also means a reconnection with ourselves and with others. We want to create a haven for you, a retreat, where you can let go, revitalise, and feel part of a like-minded community, one that shares similar values and whose members are also taking active steps, however large or small, to move towards a more hopeful future.

What does Wellbeing mean to us?

  • In recent years we’ve seen a rise in attention around ‘well-being,’ which, as described by leading Psychiatrist Professor C. Robert Cloninger, can be defined as “… an inner state of calmness, self-awareness and self-acceptance.”

We know that we are all striving for well-being in our lives, that it is integral to our health and happiness, and that more and more people seem to be lacking it. Yet how do we attain it?

Is it by taking the exercise class, by eating better, by sleeping more, by meditating, by travelling, by changing jobs, by journal writing or being part of a community, by spending more time in nature?

The truth is that learning about well-being is not dissimilar to learning about ecology, which is the study of relationship between things and their living environment. Just as ecology teaches us that everything in nature is connected and that everything has an important place in the balance of life, scientific research into well-being also teaches us that there is no single cure for living a happier life. In fact, well-being, like ecology, requires an understanding of the complex interconnectivity of our being. It is about that exercise class, and what you’re eating, how you’re sleeping and how you relax the mind. It is about your job and your hobbies and your community, and your connection to nature and many other things too. So where do you begin?

At Wild Blossom, we truly want to understand the ecology of well-being and that’s why we’ve studied it with the world’s leading experts in the field. Accredited through University of Washington St Louis, USA, both Tom and Amie are certified Wellbeing Coaches and have undergone extensive training in a unique, evidence based bio-psycho-social approach to well-being which incorporates knowledge from various fields, including psychology, dance, philosophy, music, genetics, ecology, neurology, anthropology, nutrition and naturopathy, to name but a few

That’s why well-being is more than just a buzz word for us. It’s a body of knowledge and understanding. If you’d like to find out more about how we can support you through our coaching, then please get in touch.
